Week of Trauma Dumps

Hey guys. This week has been so funny. For some reason, everyone has been trauma  dumping on us. We have been told the craziest stories. I'll put all of them in at the end.

This week, I went on an exchange with my district leader, Elder Walker. It was so lit. He came to Americus so he got to meet our friend Summer! He also came with me to try to get a girl we've been teaching to say yes to baptism. She does not want to get baptized again. She'll come around soon enough.

Transfer news came! Elder Pettingill and I are staying in Americus! I'm super excited to stay. He says that it's unusual to get trained by the same person, so I'm definitely lucky.

We had a branch Easter activity on Saturday. It was really fun. Since there are like 5 kid in the branch, we played gamss with them. We played baseball and kickball. It was really fun, but it made us tired the rest of the day.

Anyways, this should be a great transfer! Love and miss everyone!

Love,
Elder Clayburn

The crazy stories we are getting told:

1. We were walking down the road and visited someone who had been referred to us. Then this girl gets in the middle of the road and waves her hands and says, "When is it my turn?" So we head over there and talk with her. We walk in, and she's spraying lysol everywhere, talking about a new Corona virus. Turns out she lives with a member of our church. But, he hasn't been there in a while. So we start talking, and she's trying to get him to come out and talk to us. But he won't come out. So we just talk with her, and she just starts talking about how he abuses her, and apparently, he is an evil spirit. We tell her ab the Book of Mormon. She takes one, and then she just says, "We need to pray out,". We asked her to pray, and she started citing Acts and Romans in her prayer. So basically, I want to see her again bc I loved her.

2. We go to the projects that we haven't been to. We were going to knock on some people's doors that we've talked to before and wanted to invite them to church. Then ANOTHER person comes out of their house waving us over. So we went over, and then he just started talking about drugs. "My girl would call me up and tell me she got the goods. I prayed, and God told me he made the drugs, so I told her, "Okay, I'll come."  He also told us that he saw someone get shot like two days before we were there. We prayed with him and then left. Very nice guy.

3. We were bringing a member of our branch, the sacrament. We then talked with her for 15 minutes. She starts telling us that her dad locked her, her mom, and her siblings in a house and set it on fire. But her mom found a way to get out. She also told us that her dad jumped from train car to train car but fell and got his arm sliced off. By this time, I didn't know what was happening.

4. We were talking to another lady who put in a referral to meet with us. She starts telling us that no one respects her. She starts talking about how she died and came back to life. Then how she got hit by a car. Then he starts complaining to us that she needs to go to Walmart, but her neighbor hasn't picked her up. We will come back, though, and talk with her! She asked us what the meaning of life was, right when we were leaving. So that's what we will teach her later.

5. This guy told us how his girlfriend cheated on him. But based on his face, he didn't seem that upset. He was smiling, telling this whole story. But now he has a new girlfriend from Utah! He was a nice guy who just loved religion.
